New “Single Server Install” page (covers RTM version)

Now that RTM has been released, I have started to update the installation pages in the “Server Installation” section. If you are interested, take a look at: http://powerpivotgeek.com/server-installation/single-server-install-rtm/  It has been updated for RTM w/ some new screen shots. You will see the only real difference is that all of the required hotfixes and other components are now part of the SharePoint prerequisite installer. I did add some steps for if you are installing on a domain controller and a minor correction to the post-install steps.

Enjoy.

Is there any Reason I don’t see an option for “Analysis Services with SharePoint Integration” when installing SQLserver2008?

  • You said, SQL Server 2008? But PowerPivot is SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition.
    Or was that a typo?

The new guide is pretty good, but there are a couple of things that are not so clear.

When installing Reporting Services integration mode, you might want to add a screen to show how you chose an existing install. The first steps took me a couple times reading and looking at the screen to finally get to the right spot. Initially the new installation is selected.

Also when activating the RS in Sharepoint you might want to point out that the account should have Admin permissions, sharepoint tells you this, but just going on the service account you assigned we would not grant admin permissions to a SQL account.

    Great guide otherwise though.
